For many people, the new year means time for change.
Now, we're no stranger to #newyearresolutions, but over the years we've learned that resolutions aren't sustainable. They often don't last because they lack a plan of action. Meaning, you have an idea of something you like to do/accomplish within the year but no plan for how to reach it.
So, in recent years we've ditched the resolutions and moved on to goal setting. Setting goals is how you go from just having the idea to make improvements to truly achieving your dreams. But figuring out where to begin with goal setting can be a bit tricky. This is where guided journaling enters the chat.
What is guided journaling?
Guided journaling offers reflective writing prompts and questions about specific topics to help add structure to your thoughts and ideas.
How does guided journaling help with goal setting?
Guided journaling is a good tool for setting and achieving goals for several reasons:
Clarity and Focus:Â Writing down your goals in a journal forces you to articulate and clarify what you want to achieve. The act of putting pen to paper helps crystallize vague ideas into concrete objectives.
Organization and Planning:Â Journaling allows you to break down your goals into smaller, actionable steps. You can create timelines, task lists, or mind maps within your journal, providing a structured plan to follow.
Reflection and Adjustment:Â Regularly revisiting your goals in your journal allows for reflection on progress made. You can assess what's working, what isn't, and make necessary adjustments along the way to stay on track.
Accountability:Â Writing down your goals creates a sense of commitment. Your journal becomes a personal accountability partner, reminding you of your aspirations and motivating you to take action.
Motivation and Visualization:Â Visualizing your goals through journaling, whether it's through written descriptions or visual aids, can boost motivation. Seeing your goals on paper makes them feel more real and achievable, keeping you inspired to work towards them.
In our next post we will share the various techniques you can use to get the most out of your journaling.
